well, after a very long time, my car is at the shop being reassembled. assuming i didn't forget some major part, i will have it mid-week. :fingers crossed:

golden eagle sleeved the block, bored and honed it, fitted the pistons, rings, and rods to the crank, line bored the mains, micropolished the crank, and finally selected and fitted the bearings. i forgot to send them my front balance shaft so they couldn't finish up and install the oil pump. no biggie.

the pistons are endyn 9.5:1 in the stock 87mm bore. i am a little worried about these pistons, as they look to me like the compression ratio is going to be closer to 9.0:1 than 9.5:1, which was not my goal. i went with a cometic .027" head gasket, so that .005" will add a smidgen back... but not much.

the other changes at the same time are eagle rods, crower cam gears (and the necessary modifications to the valve cover, timing belt cover, and jrsc pulley bracket / cam gear blocker assembly), a clutchmasters clutch and flywheel, 440cc injectors, the efi systems PMS computer and the removal of the JR EMS, JR FMU, and VAFC. i'll be running jim's 9psi pulley for now.

4775 sleevedBlock
4777 sleevedBlock
4780 sleeve
4784 sleeve

i really like the design of the GE sleeves, although to be totally honest i expected the gaps between each sleeve to be smaller. they're absolutely tiny, but i was hoping for that look of a single monolithic iron sleeve.

i will let everyone know how it goes once the car is running and broken in.

please DO NOT email or pm me asking how much x and y or x and z cost at golden eagle. email them and they will be more than happy to help you.

Looks great! I can tell they're endyn pistons by the smooth top pistons. No sharp edges. Does anyone elso other than endyn do this? They are the only one's I've ever seen that do this. Anyway it looks good. Looking forward to seeing what you can get out of it. Good luck

Mark,

You stated that you will be using my "9psi stepper pulley for now"... does this mean that you have something ELSE in mind to use for increasing your boost levels ??? If you feel that there might be a better idea, I would love to hear it.

no no no, nothing like that!i am thinking that now that my motor is built up and i have the pms, if i get tired of the 9-10psi limit of the blower, the high intake temps, and the vibrating gas pedal (nobody can solve it), i may throw a turbo on.

nothing for at least 6 months though.

i didn't say stepper pulley though, did i?

on a related topic, do you know if the m62 will push any more than 9psi on an h22? the airflow demand is about 10% higher than a type r, right?

Throw a 50-75HP shot of N20 on that puppy. That ought to get you in the mid 12's or better

Your setup looks nice - similar to my D16A6, only it was all done at Endyn. Are you planning on piping up your own air/water IC before it all goes back together? I'm going to be joining the SC IC bandwagon this winter with my own, as I feel that dispite all the engine/head/blower work, the SC heat is still the #1 HP loss. How's that for a newsflash?

Wink

Mark,

It is a stepper pulley of sorts... only a TWO-PIECE one... one on either side of the jackshaft assembly !!!

heheh

well, on the prelude i really don't think it will be possible to make an aftercooler of ANY sort without making a whole new intake manifold. the blower bolts right onto the top of the intake manifold. actually, there's a 1" thick adapter manifold in between. i might consider water injection. i know it's not ideal, but it may be the only option for this car.

since the motor is "built" now and i have a more flexibly fuel/timing control setup (pms) i will probably run the car for a year or so as is, then buy a new car for a daily driver (g35 coupe?) and put a turbo on this guy and crank it up to 15psi or so.

"All things considered, you would be far ahead never to have heard of a water injector."

-Corky Bell
From the book "Supercharged!" page 135

That backs up my feelings on water injection. If your bottom end is built for boost, and you've got all the right fuel/ignition management covered, you can easily deal with the blower heat.

My Civic runs great, but I can't stand the difference between driving it on a cold march morning and a hot july afternoon. I don't have mechanical issues when it gets hot, rather, the car feels like it's towing a trailer.

I would think a cooler would be cake with the prelude being that the blower sits on top and is very easy to get to. Why couldnt you sandwhich an air to water unit in between?
